About SEA

Scripps Education Association (SEA for short) is dedicated to serving the undergraduate community at SIO.

We represent the Scripps Institution of Oceanography's four majors: Environmental Systems, Geosciences, Marine Biology, and Oceanic & Atmospheric Sciences.

How It Started

Scripps Education Association started in 2000 with just a few people coming together to do what they love. Little did they know that it would grow into the thriving Student Organization it is today. Our dedicated members enjoy meeting often for different events and activities. Passion and enthusiasm go hand-in-hand with everything we do.

Our door is always open to new members, no matter their experience level. We are proud to bring together people from all over San Diego and beyond. Come join us at our next event — we’d love to share all that the Scripps Education Association has to offer.

Alexis Dauz

Hi everyone, I'm Alexis :-) I'm a third-year marine biology major from Sixth College. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach to swim, surf, or tide pool, and try out new sandwich places. Peace, and love y'all

Cali Lingle

Hello everyone! My name is Cali Lingle (she/her), and I am a fourth-year Marine Biology major and minoring in General Biology! I am the secretary of SEA, and I volunteer in the Smith Lab at SIO. Reach out to me anytime with questions about research or medicine or if you want to geek out about marine life!

Hey! I'm Ria (she/her) a third-year marine biology student. I'm the Fundraising Coordinator for the SEA club so I'll be taking all of your money (I'm only half kidding). Be on the lookout for fundraising and super cool Sea Club merch.

Hi! My name is Sneha Korat (she/her), a third-year geoscience major, and I am the Professional Development Coordinator for SEA! I host career-building and networking events, as well as provide professional support for members.

Hello! I'm Johnny (he/him), a third-year Environmental Systems major in the Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution track. I joined SEA to find other Scripps majors on campus! For fun, I like flying my kite at the beach.

Publicist

Kyle Greenawald

Hey y'all! I'm Kyle, a first-year OAS major in Revelle College. I'm the publicist for SEA, so I run this website and make video announcements for the Instagram page! When I'm not working on school stuff (almost never) I spend my time at the beach looking for cool shells and small animals, or I can be found trying to learn new songs on the piano or guitar.

Hi! My name is Angel Huang (she/her), I am a freshman majoring in marine biology. I am the social media coordinator for SEA! I love the ocean so much, I've been scuba diving since I was 7 years old.
